Welcome and disclaimers.

Welcome to [community profile] firmament, the Dreamwidth equivalent to [livejournal.com profile] chomalfoyfics! If you're familiar with the posts on the LJ community, there won't be anything too dissimilar here; I'm repeating or restating a lot of the same information. However, there will be some Dreamwidth-specific information that might be useful to read over (although most of it is pretty self-explanatory).

First off, I'm going to get the disclaimers out of the way. I haven't had any difficulties on my LJ community to date, and I don't expect that it'll be any different here, but I feel this is important to state regardless.

Main disclaimer

I write and post fanfic to receive critiques and to discuss the source material. I don't make any profit, and all characters and canon sources belong to the writers/production companies/distributors/etc. Stories featuring celebrities as characters are based on fictional constructs and aren't intended to depict reality.

Secondary disclaimers

Ratings: I use the MPAA rating system (or the US movie rating system, which consists of the ratings G, PG, PG-13, R, and NC-17) to designate the content of the fic on LJ and DW, and AO3's system on their website. I've used LJ and DW's page content system to mark older fic; I don't use the systems anymore.

Editing: My beta access depends on many factors, including several I have no control over. That means I'll post stories without betas. When I do post fic that has been looked over, any remaining mistakes are mine.

Warnings: I warn for spoilers in the fic header. If a story is PG-13 or above, I'll add a general note explaining why: violence, sexual content, language, disturbing concepts, etc.

I also try to include warnings for major triggers, such as sexual abuse and physical torture. The key word is "try": I can't guarantee that all stories are properly marked for major triggers. It's also unlikely that I have less common triggers labeled properly. If there are any questions, I encourage readers to comment, send me a private message, or email me (gorgeousnerd at gmail dot com).

When I do warn for triggers, I use rot13.com to protect against spoilers. See this post on [livejournal.com profile] cho_malfoy and this post on [community profile] firmament for more information. If I believe the story may have triggers but am not in a place to label them, I'll mention that I choose not to warn in the header.

Security: Spamming, trolling, flaming, and spoiling aren't allowed and will result in action. Depending on what happens, I may take any action from comment deletion to spam marking to blocking/banning.

Some basic definitions of terms:

-Spamming is the act of posting comments that are unrelated to the content of the community, often in excess, and often to promote a commercial product or link to a dangerous website. Spamming will result in banning and reporting, although one-time instances of community spamming will receive a warning.
-Trolling refers to the act of posting extremely negative comments in order to cause drama. Trolling results in an automatic ban.
-Flaming is the act of posting personal attacks toward a user. Flaming results in an automatic ban.
-Spoiling is the act of revealing plot points to a fictional work, and although this term is most often used in regards to plot points in works of fiction that haven't been revealed to the general public, this could also refer to plot points in fiction that a person hasn't accessed yet. Unintentional spoiling results in deleted comments; intentional spoiling will result in banning and possible reporting.
