Entry tags:
Memory alterations, and fifteen-word fanfic.
Since it's the middle of the night and I can't sleep, I opted to tackle one of the things that's been bothering me for a little while in this community: the memories. For a while, I had them named so that the ratings were grouped together, but the fandoms and various kinds of mod posts were willy-nilly, so I finally made their categories more uniform. I had to sacrifice chronological order within some of the categories -- namely, on posts that were in more than one category -- but I combined some superfluous sections and made basic navigation easier. It's a similar system to the one I created for my Delicious recs, so I'm more likely to remember it all.
However, despite all this work, I believe the tags and project list are more effective means to find suitable stories. For just readers, I think the main list is the way to go (and is generally what I use for my favorite fic authors, for anyone curious). I mostly use the memories for mod purposes in conjunction with tags and the main list, so it helps me to have them neater, but probably no one else.
chomalfoyfics's memories are still the old system for now;
firmament had some seventy fewer memories to sort through, thanks to the relative newness of Dreamwidth, so it was easier to develop what I wanted to do before I implemented it on LiveJournal. Hopefully, it'll make organization on LJ a bit quicker than it would have been otherwise, although I'm not too optimistic.
In other news, I did a fic meme here: it involved picking ten characters and writing fifteen-word fics for prompts. I worked on it on and off for eight hours, and I'm still not fully satisfied with the results, but it was a lot of fun to try.
